AirLink privacy policy
Effective 26 September 2026. Published by AY Tech Labs for AirLink on Android and macOS.
Direct sharing
AirLink sends files and supported clipboard content directly between paired devices over your local network using TLS. The app has no user accounts, cloud file relay, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or third-party crash-reporting SDK. Your transfers do not pass through this website or Firebase Hosting.
Device identity and pairing
Each installation generates a device identifier and a signing key. Private keys stay in Android Keystore or macOS Keychain. Device names, identifiers, public keys, certificate fingerprints, and connection details are stored locally to reconnect and authenticate paired devices. Local discovery advertises device identity information and a network endpoint to other devices on the same network. Pairing requires approval on the receiving device; QR codes and pairing codes can be used to establish the connection. Unpairing removes local trust.
Files and transfer history
AirLink reads files supplied through system pickers, drag and drop, the Android share menu, or enabled clipboard sharing. Private local copies support sending, receiving, previews, and interrupted transfers. Activity records include filenames, sizes, timestamps, transfer status, checksums, and device identifiers. Previewing a file does not upload it to a server.
Verified received files save to Downloads/AirLink when automatic downloading/saving is enabled. When it is disabled, copied files wait for Download and received files can be saved manually. Existing downloads are not overwritten. Received archives are not extracted automatically and received files are not executed automatically.
Auto-accept controls approval of manually sent files from already paired devices. Copied files follow clipboard, automatic-download, and size-limit settings. Android currently enables clipboard sync, automatic acceptance, automatic downloads, and the background-connection preference on a new installation. macOS initially disables clipboard sharing and auto-accept, and enables automatic downloads. These preferences persist until you change them. New-device approval is still required.
Clipboard sharing
When clipboard synchronization is enabled, supported clipboard changes can be sent to connected paired devices and received content can replace the clipboard. Clipboard content may include sensitive information you copy. Disable synchronization when you do not want copied content shared. Android can send clipboard changes to multiple connected supported devices; macOS automatic sending requires a single connected device.
The automatic copied-file size limit is configurable from 1 MB to 1,000 GB in decimal units. Actual transfers depend on available storage and connectivity. Text and inline images have a separate 20 MB bound. Larger files require explicit sending. Copied files and received images appear in Activity; ordinary clipboard text is not added to transfer history. Large Android text clips and file clips may be represented by private files and temporary content URIs. File pasting depends on the destination app supporting those formats.
Android permits reading the system clipboard only while AirLink has focus. Its foreground service does not remove that restriction. Use the system Share action to send content from other apps. Background receipt works while Android permits the connection service to run. macOS can monitor clipboard changes while AirLink is running with sharing enabled.
Permissions and background operation
Local network and Wi-Fi/network-state access support discovery and direct connections. Android uses a connected-device foreground service with a notification for background connections, and wake/Wi-Fi locks to keep permitted sessions available. You can request a battery-optimization exemption from Settings. Android may restart a stopped service when permitted; this is not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation. The app has no boot receiver. Disable Stay connected or stop the connection to end background sharing.
Camera permission is used for QR pairing. Camera frames are decoded on-device. Notifications show connection and transfer status. Android 9 uses legacy storage permission to save to Downloads; newer Android versions use MediaStore. AirLink does not request contacts, microphone, SMS, location, broad all-files access, or Accessibility Service access. macOS uses sandbox permissions for networking, selected files, and Downloads. Launch at login is optional.
Retention and deletion
Pairing records, settings, and transfer records stay in local app storage. Clear finished history removes eligible completed records and private transfer copies; files saved in Downloads remain until you delete them. Unfinished or unsaved received items may be retained so you can retrieve them. A separate clipboard copy may remain until another clipboard item replaces it. Uninstalling removes application storage according to the operating system; exported files and operating-system clipboard history may remain. AirLink cannot delete copies on other devices or in apps where you pasted or shared content.
Website and support
This website is served by Google Firebase Hosting. It does not embed analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, external fonts, or an app-content upload form. Hosting infrastructure processes connection information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the website, under Google's privacy practices. Firebase Hosting retains IP information for a few months for abuse detection and usage analysis. Visiting this website does not connect to your AirLink devices or transfer their contents.
Support information is available on the Support page. Contact AY Tech Labs at ironanuragyadav@gmail.com for support or privacy questions. Do not send passwords, private keys, pairing codes, or private transferred files in a support request.
Changes
This policy may be updated as AirLink changes. The effective date above identifies this version. Material changes will be reflected in the app's published information.
